Experimenting with Gesso, Calligraphy Inks and Acrylics....

31st October 2014

Had a lovely long beach walk today......

.....there was a breeze and the sun was trying to peep through the clouds making the sky a lovely colour...

.....looking down.....

 ......found these beautiful shells....

.....wonderful colours and shapes.....

.....also collected these on the way back....

....and coated them in acrylic wax...

....I am going to try stitching them!

:::::

When I was on my mixed media course the lady sitting next to me said she loves to coat her papers with Gesso, so I bought some and had a play....

....coated the paper and marked with the end of a paint brush....

.....pressed feathers....

...it left a delicate pattern....

.....pressed a leaf...

....when dry I brushed calligraphy ink onto the surface then printed with a feather coated in gold ink....

...sepia ink and gold ink splashes...

.....the pattern didn't show very well so printed with gold painted leaf...

I really liked the effect of the inks.

Next came the Gelli printing...

....coated with acrylic....

...pressed a shell into the Gelli...

....more paint then my cardboard comb....

.....cotton reel...

 ...the resulting print...

....this was the paper I cleaned my roller on, think I might coat with acrylic wax and use as a book cover!

 Print from comb and shell...

.....also bought 10 small shades for £1...

....RD has taken them apart and I now have 20 hoops and 10 butterfly shapes for the park project!!

::::

Printed papers...

...and look what I found in my garden, can't remember its name but it usually flowers in Jan/Feb!!!

I also managed to do some housework and more bulb planting in the park so have had a good week!!

:::::

Not sure if I mentioned but I have been listening to audio books from the library while I have been crafting so am now on book 43 in the '2014 52 Book Challenge'!!
