Last Saturday I went to a ceramics exhibition/sale at Hoxton Arches with my daughter, unable to take photos but the work was varied and stunning!
We walked from there to Spitalfields Market which has changed a great deal since I was last there, thought I would share this sculpture that was on display...
....made from wire, very moving.

Yesterday visited Alexandra Palace to see the Knitting and Stitching Show, here are just a few of the exhibits that caught my eye...
....made from hand dyed fabrics, manipulated and pleated...
....this caught my eye as each strip was at least 5ft long and suspended from a pole away from the wall, it moved and created lovely shadows....
....again strips of a variety of hand dyed fabrics, rolled, joined with simple stitches, some decorated with Suffolk Puffs, note the shadows on the wall behind....
....another creating of shadows, free machined on sheer fabric- the theme was favourite well loved toys...
.....this reminded me of the work by Alice Fox...
....collected, found objects stitched onto handwoven fabric..
feathers, pebbles, rusted nails...
...even crab claws...
...and a mermaids purse!!
I am always collecting, think I might have a go at this, so simple but very effective!
These hangings caught my eye but the photo doesn't do them justice, too much lighting in the display area...
....close up..
....also loved this simple piece, great for a child's bedroom, appliqué, embroidery and handmade buttons...
....just beautiful, hand dyed fabrics and embroidery...
....also loved these, again very delicate hangings about 6ft long making shadows. the holes looked as though they had been burnt with a soldering iron, then machined around the edge...
....this was a stunning wall hanging about 5ft long/2ft wide made by threading silk through the holes in open weave hessian ...
....these were by the same artist but also had tapestry stitches incorporated in the design.
My purchases, beautifully shaded yarn for a jumper/cardi for Alba...
....more drops 4 ply yarn to add to my blanket/throw I am making for myself based very loosely on the wonderful work by Sophie Digard...
...squares so far, a LOT more to make but I am really enjoying the process, so easy to pick up if I have a few minutes to spare!!
Finally my collection of autumn leaves, so many beautiful colours...
...now being pressed then waxed.
I am off to Handmade at Kew on Sunday, hope I will be allowed to take photos to share with you.....
