A Creative Couple of Weeks....

22nd September 2019

Had a little sort out of one of my storage baskets and found a mixed media piece I started a while ago and forgot about!! Strips of silk, netting, organza and ribbons stitched onto calico and a fine wadding.

I then covered this with a piece of organza...

....yesterday I decided to play and experiment. Free machined shapes and cut back some fabrics....

....close up, rather like the textures.

Continued in this way, such fun....

....the result!

I love the colours, wondered whether to hand stitch the background but think I will leave it.

Think I will make another using similar technique but placing fabrics randomly instead of in strips, incorporating some of my dissolvable fabric made with recycled threads for added texture!

The weather has been lovely the past couple of weeks and I have been out and about with my granddaughter generally having fun, ice cream and collecting signs of autumn for her nursery project....

Kew Gardens, one of my favourite places...

....a carpet of copper leaves...

...just LOVE these grasses.

Made some Blueberry Gin, I usually make Damson but haven't seen any this year, fingers crossed it tastes okay.

A friend and I spent a couple of hours making hangings for our McMillan fundraising stall. We tried a recipe using cornflour, bicarb and air drying. Unfortunately some cracked but we intend to have another try and not make the patterns so deep!

Finished a matinee coat for my grandchild, due in November, a Sirdar pattern and very easy, I do like a yoke.

Also finished, just a pompom to add, an aran hat to match the shawl collar aran cardigan I made for my granddaughter.

I am now hand stitching the quilt and really enjoying the slow stitching.

Until next time......
