Finished my Cushions!!!!

27th October 2018

My cushions began, in 2016, as calico, folded, clamped using a square/circle then dropped in the Indigo vat...

...these samples went into my stash until I started Homesitting when I decided to Kantha stitch in and around the shapes.

Earlier this week I printed calico to make the back of the cushions and today decided on an envelope fastening using some of my other indigo fabric/threads to make buttons and cord...

....so easy, a little fiddling, but worth it..

...circles of fabric are cut and stitched near the edge with small running stitches....

....drawn in around the button...

....then secured..

....voila!

Stitched the button on and hand stitched the cord for the fastening...

...inserted the cushion pad and am so pleased with the result!

I appliqued some of my other Shibori designs on the square design and then Kantha stitched....

... really pleased with the result.

Making Small Quilts -inspired by my book from Deborah O;Hare

21st October 2018

Just had a great weekend!

Yesterday went with my neighbour to see her new allotment, a lot of work needs doing before planting can begin and I would love to help. I am good at weeding!!!

Made a couple of small quilts from ideas by Deborah O'Hare....

...the backgrounds were from her book and the rest was me! Free machining and appliqué....

...a glorious warm few days...

...started another small quilt using indigo dyed silk for the sky and painted bondaweb on calico for the beach...

....machine stitching...

...the threads I used, silk and variegated...

.....hand stitching, shells and beads added, just need some more free machining to complete.

A Creative Couple of Days

18th October 2018
Yesterday had the first meeting of a craft group I am trying to set up in my local community....

....I displayed the sort of things that can be made by anybody, I call it playing and asking myself 'what will happen if?'....

....the people who came were really enthusiastic and we are going to Yarn Bomb as a small community project and one lady is going to demonstrate a simple mosaic!

Today I cut strips of my painted fabric and arranged on wadding to stitch as a background....

...made these today using the background but think I might add some hand stitch....

....lots of free machining and the teasel has a small piece of hand dyed fabric appliquéd and stitched...

....I have already selected hand dyed fabrics for my next background....

..watch this space!
