Seed heads, making felt and fund raising gifts....

18th August 2019

Already half way through August and the weather has been very mixed here in London.

I have enjoyed walks and watching amazing seed heads develop in the garden borders and beside paths, picking some to put in a vase at home.....

...a friend brought me these from her allotment, so delicate, I decided to weave them using a papery yarn, it is now on the wall in my hallway .....

...I am thinking of sticking these in a small oasis wreath as a door decoration...

....a small arrangement of some grasses, seed heads and feathers in a lovely charity shop find ceramic vase...

....shadow on my work table from my vase of seed heads.

Finished 'Foxy', a gift for somebody special, made from Luna Lapin's Friends Book.

I have been asked to have a craft table at a McMillan Fundraiser so a friend and I have been making some key rings and pendants using supplies from our stash...

Made some felt using fleece from my stash, wove strips...

...then used the embellisher, a good solid felt to make a simple glasses case, again for the fundraiser....

....hand dyed fleece embellished on wool felt, more textured than the last piece...

....I thought the back was interesting!

Last but not least my son took me out for lunch to celebrate my birthday and I ordered this AMAZING dessert! Chocolate bomb enclosing crunchy ice cream sitting in a mousse and salted caramel sauce poured over, it was soooo delicious, I savoured every mouthful! Also had lunch with my daughter the previous week in a lovely little fish restaurant and with my sister on my actual birthday where I had pancakes, crispy bacon, caramelised banana and maple syrup!!!

This photo shows my dessert in a large ceramic dish, a work of art!

I rarely eat out so it really has been special and great to spend quality time with family.

Also finished Mr Foxy as a gift.

Made a card for a special friend's 25th Wedding Anniversary.

started a new project, as though I haven't enough!!!!

A while ago when I was house-sitting I made small squares to show how different embroidery stitches could be used and different effects using  simple stitches. Last week I bought an old french wooden reel to make a different sort of wall hanging. I saw this idea a long time ago and it really appealed, this is a project I can pick up anytime.

I have also enjoyed special, precious hours with my beautiful granddaughter, I am blessed!!

Slow Stitching on my Wallhanging

20th July 2019

I pinned a selection of my eco and rust dyed fabric experiments onto a soft cotton wadding as I wanted to make a wallhanging for my hallway. I also wanted to hand stitch in a variety of ways, something I love to do while listening to an audio book. My granddaughter has been away on holiday so I had extra time to indulge myself, but I have missed her and will be glad to have her for a sleepover next week!

This was linen which had been rust dyed and I enjoyed experimenting with straight stitch....

....muslin with some needle weaving...

....a very fine cotton rusted with small metal plates, again experimenting with straight stitch!

Lots more to do and I also need more threads!

The parks are looking spectacular at the moment, so many rich, vibrant colours and shapes...

Last week I went to an Indian themed garden party, my neighbours decided to dress up so some of us went to Southall looking for items to decorate the marquee and something to wear. We had such a fun afternoon choosing....

....my outfit, just couldn't resist these colours, scarf, dress and trousers all for £10 !!!

The tables in the marquee...

....a beautiful day...

....set in lovely gardens...

...it was a great afternoon enjoyed by all.

Lastly not sure whether I showed you this eco dyed piece with small eucalyptus leaves.....
