New Embroidered Cards

25th May 2016

While I was away last week I enjoyed embroidering.....

...today made cards....

.....Lavender on old linen with silk ribbon bow....

....Grape Hyacinth on muslin with bead embellishment...

..just wondering what flower to embroider next!

I have also started another pair of socks and been gardening in the park but it was very cold and I needed a hot chocolate when I got home!

My Secret Project!

25th May 2016

Remember I said I was starting a 'secret project' when I was on my course in Cornwall with the lovely Anne Griffiths, I am now going to show you the stages, it has been a real learning curve.....

....A&J bought a house, I drew it from the estate agents photo...

.....placed calico over the drawing and traced with pencil....

.....next used a mixture of fabric/acrylic paint and a very small brush....

....I should have used unwashed calico as the paint 'bled' into the fabric....

...after stitching, mostly hand stitching which I really enjoyed doing....

....unfortunately the door is on a bit of a slope which I didn't notice until I took the photo!!!

I think I might like to do this again and get the bay/door more upright!!

Anne's community project can be found here....

...definitely worth a look!

Also great physical exercise!

The trees are in full bloom...

Yesterday as it was too wet to work in the garden so we went to the V&A and saw 2 exhibitions, Reimagine Botticelli which was really interesting and Undressed: A Brief History of Underwear.
Also very interesting, so glad I don't have to wear  boned corsets!!!

This was an interesting structure....

....looking up, reminds me of pin art....

....the robot that has constructed it, hope to come back in June to see it working!
