5 years blogging today.....

27th May 2018

Greetings from a very sunny London....

...I have been thinking how much my blog has changed over the years, it started out as a record of my Machine Embroidery course with Anne Griffiths but now is a sort of diary of my life which has changed so much since my gorgeous granddaughter arrived!

I have managed to spend a lot of time with her over the last couple of weeks and we have so many laughs and adventures together, I have play dates, not babysitting!!

Playing in the sandpit...

....running away so I can chase her....

....loves climbing...

....taking her favourite bear to see the tomato plants.

I have also been busy gardening, mainly weeding and tidying and lots of watering....

...before and after photos

Knitting and stitching a number of projects, no photos yet, and enjoying all the wild flowers in the parks....

Thank you for reading my blog, 82, 644 visits since I started!!!

An Afternoon in Chichester......

15th May 2018

After meeting Susan Shafrir I went to explore Chichester.....

... walking from the station towards the town centre I saw this beautiful stone building at the Buttermarket crossroads....

....there were many stalls on the main street selling crafts, food and craft products...

....so many lovely buildings...

....and of course the Cathedral...

....enjoyed wandering around the Cathedral grounds on this beautiful sunny day....

....the Bishop's gardens, open to the public,  so very peaceful....

....very old walls sprouting pretty pink flowers!

....I love wandering around old churches and am in awe of the craftsmen who constructed these amazing buildings all those years ago....

....I particularly liked the modern pulpit ....

....fabulous stained glass windows...

....renovation work on the roof and cleaning the stonework...

....one of the entrances into the Cathedral grounds....

.....this is now an Italian restaurant but the date says 1718!!

A great way to spend a Sunday, 2 hour train journey from Richmond passing beautiful yellow fields of rape, many very large greenhouses growing tomatoes, freshly ploughed and planted fields including a field of solar panels very near the greenhouses!

Chichester is well worth a visit with its many interesting buildings, shops, two cinemas, two theatres, an art gallery, almost daily markets and a variety of eateries and pubs!!

Meeting Textile Artist Susan Shafrir at her exhibition in Chichester.

14th May 2018

Yesterday I went to see an exhibition in Chichester by Susan Shafrir on the theme Bioethics.....

... Susan, an online textile artist friend, had been commissioned by UNESCO to produce textiles on the theme Bioethics for an exhibition at their next congress meeting in Jerusalem.....

....she explained to me that she was given the theme then had to research material she could use as a base for her mixed media textiles which would provoke discussion and debate....

......the red script are the questions Susan asked herself as she was working......

....these photos do not do her work justice, so much wonderful detail in the stitch, both hand and machine embroidery and also the choice of fabrics, a very talented lady!

So glad I went to this exhibition, very thought provoking.....
