An Afternoon in Chichester......

15th May 2018

After meeting Susan Shafrir I went to explore Chichester.....

... walking from the station towards the town centre I saw this beautiful stone building at the Buttermarket crossroads....

....there were many stalls on the main street selling crafts, food and craft products...

....so many lovely buildings...

....and of course the Cathedral...

....enjoyed wandering around the Cathedral grounds on this beautiful sunny day....

....the Bishop's gardens, open to the public,  so very peaceful....

....very old walls sprouting pretty pink flowers!

....I love wandering around old churches and am in awe of the craftsmen who constructed these amazing buildings all those years ago....

....I particularly liked the modern pulpit ....

....fabulous stained glass windows...

....renovation work on the roof and cleaning the stonework...

....one of the entrances into the Cathedral grounds....

.....this is now an Italian restaurant but the date says 1718!!

A great way to spend a Sunday, 2 hour train journey from Richmond passing beautiful yellow fields of rape, many very large greenhouses growing tomatoes, freshly ploughed and planted fields including a field of solar panels very near the greenhouses!

Chichester is well worth a visit with its many interesting buildings, shops, two cinemas, two theatres, an art gallery, almost daily markets and a variety of eateries and pubs!!
