Lino Printing

20th January 2014

I have had a really great day!

This afternoon I went on a FREE course in Blackpool for lino printing.
Linzi, the artist, had secured a grant from the Arts Council to fund courses in Blackpool for January.
It is held in an empty shop.....

...work displayed on the walls was from previous workshops and Linzi's work.

We were shown how to transfer a design onto the lino and how to use the tools then we set to work...

My design, a hydrangea petal...

..roughly cut out...

Linzi is in the red coat giving advice and help..

..a blob of blue on glass...

..rolled out ready for printing...

...pressing the lino cut...

..after pressing...

...brilliant result!

My petals in blue...

..and red. They look different because the top one was pressed on the glass where there was just a little paint, on the right one I rolled the roller over the lino and the other was when the paint on the glass was quite thick.

Other samples from the class.

A great afternoon and I am going next week for monoprinting-life is good!!!

On the way home I called into Smiths and bought this magazine....

...and when I arrived home a friend had left me this gift...

..a BRILLIANT end to my Monday!!!

I am hoping my Transfer Paints will arrive tomorrow.....

  2. Lino printing is such fun - I went to a workshop and ended up buying the bits so that I could do it at home!
