Embroidery, Crochet and Be Creative Prompts....

26th September 2014

Greetings from a very grey, blustery Blackpool!!

I have been quite busy in my loft space, my own creative sanctuary, just love it!!!

Embroidered a card for a friend who is a cycling enthusiast....

......drew the design in water soluble pen onto silk noil...

.....used back stitch....

.....handlebars and spokes in metallic thread.....

....unfortunately it didn't fit any of my aperture cards so had to mount it on the card!!

I am really enjoying hand embroidery.

::::::

Also loving experimenting with crochet....

...a long strip for a bench slat...

......an assortment of flowers to stitch onto a net backing for the railings....

.....and a wide strip for a lamp post.....

....I have been crocheting  listening to an audio book I borrowed from the library. The story is good but I am finding the narrators voice very harsh!

:::::

Be Creative Group prompts....

....the prompt was a photo of a 'bug hotel' with the instruction to take an aspect from the photo and use paper or fabric for a collage.....

...I selected these hand dyed fabrics from my stash....

.....and free machined in variegated thread.

Not sure what I will do with it!

The next prompt was the word 'YELLOW'

I got a bit carried away and decorated 2 pages in my journal using two shades of yellow acrylic and some stamps....

...wove some yellow threads I had and thought of yellow flowers and most seem to come in the spring.

I never wear yellow as it seems to make me look sickly but do love the colour.

::::

Made a card using some beautiful ribbon I bought two years ago at Olympia and decorated with tiny beads....

....off to Yarndale in Skipton tomorrow and just a little -LOT- excited!!!!

Hope I remember to take plenty of photos!
