Making Fabric.....

17th April 2015

I started the day in the park helping to spread manure on the sensory beds, I know how to have a good time!!!!

I then delivered some of my cards to a little shop in Lytham, had a mooch round the charity shops but didn't find any bargains today.

The last couple of days I have been experimenting/playing with yarns/weaving and recycled sari silk.......

....I bought a bundle of sari silk a couple of years ago....

.....I ironed the strips, just love these vibrant colours,  onto cotton backed with Bondaweb....

.....then used gold metallic thread in programmed stitches to secure....

.....more stitching with variegated threads to decorate.....

....apologies for this photo, it doesn't do the fabric justice!

Think I will make a book/journal with this and colour wash the pages with these colours.

I have lots of different yarns and thought I would make a bright, textured weaving....

.....I made this on a simple cardboard 'loom'.....

...I have no idea what I am going to do with this, perhaps use the embellisher.....

.....just find weaving very relaxing!

Julie Broad,

 https://creatingtextiles.wordpress.com

...is a blogging on-line friend who has amazing ideas which she shares on her blog....

.....a couple of weeks ago she had an excellent idea, I have copied it....

...these are fabulous inktense paint/dyes which stack...

...I copied Julie's idea and cut triangles of sticky labels to show the colours in the palette....

....such a simple task and so useful when using these paints....

....thank you Julie!!

I am off to the Blackpool Embroiderer's Guild Exhibition tomorrow at the Central Library, hope I can take photos to share with you.....
