Assembling Storage Boxes!!

10th August 2014

I have had a very enjoyable day, apart from getting soaked in a cloudburst!!

 Made a couple of cards.......

....I pressed some marigold petals and overlapped them from the outer edge on hand-made paper...

....cow parsley from a country walk and geranium flowers from my garden....

::::::

Next I decided to try the wing needle I bought at the NEC.....

.....Anne demonstrated this needle on the course and I loved the effect....

....tried it first on cotton-disaster!

 Fiddled about with threading, bobbin etc but still didn't work.

Tried with folded muslin...

.....more success but then jammed!

I like the effect on the muslin as the wing needle leaves little holes in the fabric.

Folded linen scrim....

.....tried a variety of programmed stitches, and apart from a missing stitch a success.

The effect of dense stitching reminds me of smocking.

::::::

Finally I went up to the loft to assemble my storage boxes....

.....quite a few flat packs.....

....I was amazed at the clever design....

.....completed...

....another style...

....in place.....

......three draws....

..... these will be placed on top of one another....

......the book shelves ready for the goodies...

....one step nearer!!!

Must make dinner now......
