Goodies from the Postman.....

8th May 2015

Last weekend I ordered some supplies, soluble film, wadding etc.....

....love these little hangers for wall hangings and this bobbin holder....

....this is so much better than my plastic box!

>>>>>>>>

Made simple drawings and copied them onto my new soluble film....

....after stitching, two shades, it is supposed to look like coral!!

Another two shades to make this nautilus shape....

.....my thread kept breaking, not sure why, just hope I have managed to connect all the threads!!

Results tomorrow.

This idea came from a wonderful Australian artist, Meredith Woolnough, needless to say I will need a lot of practise!!

Her beautiful creations are well worth looking at....

>>>>>>>>>>

This is my ring book covered with my recycled sari fabric...

....good quality paper, ideal for a sketchbook/notebook!

>>>>>>>>

Also been making more bunting ready for our Fun Day in the park in 1 MONTH!!

Have a good weekend....

Miscellaneous!

7th May 2015

Yesterday I started a fabric collage to fit in a frame that I have had for ages....

....decided against the skeleton leaves when I free machined....

....instead cut long leaf shapes from a very open scrim.....

.....cut out poppy petals/centres using the soldering iron....

....added some hand stitching and beads.....

....rather like it!

::::::

Went for a walk on the beach this morning....

....lots of machinery and activity but still can't find out what is going on!!

Lots of stones have been washed up but I didn't collect any today....

.....spoke to a fisherman washing lug worms....

.....I said they were bigger than I thought they would be, his reply was these are only small ones!!

Took this photo of part of a rusted trailer washed up on the beach because I loved the colours!!

:::::

Collected some flowers and leaves for pressing....

.....used my stitched sari fabric to cover this spiral bound sketch book....

....will complete the back cover and show tomorrow!

The Blue Bowl....

3rd May 2015

I am so thrilled with the blue bowl.....
....from above....

.....upside down.....

.....the side....

....it is firmer than the previous bowl, larger and no big holes!!!

Unfortunately I have used all my soluble fabric so can't make another today!

::::::

My 100th 'liker' on my  ID Designs Facebook shop asked me to make her a 21st card....

....I used my own felt, french knots and beads, just hope the recipient liked it!!!

Made another poppy card using felt, organza and beads....

...with purple and pink flowers..

.....two skeleton leaves stitched onto silk tissue paper....

....a new design, using stitched felt from last week, I made a poppy template, cut with a soldering iron and stitched detail using beads.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend....

A Promenade Walk and Another Bowl!

2nd May 2015

A grey, wet and windy day here in Blackpool......

....still went for a long walk as I wanted to buy a large hoop and see the yarn bombing in South Shore....

......monster bollards, made me smile....

.....walking south along the prom, in the rain and wind, passed South Pier....

....this is the end of the pier, if you look at the pole on the right you will see a person in a 'sling' who has been hoisted up....

.....the person is now swinging, very fast, over the sea!!!!

The little speck on the left is the person.

I can't imagine anything worse than that!!!

Further along we saw this structure in the sea quite near the prom....

.....the drill was HUGE...

...rather like this shape.

There was nothing /nobody to explain what was happening!

::::

Arrived at the Solaris Park and saw this 'bug hotel' structure.

:::::

Passed a charity shop on the way home and bought this cake stand for £1....

....all these brushes for £3...

....and this album, which I am going to cover and make into a sketchbook/journal, for £1...

.....it has lovely thick textured pages.

I do love a bargain!!!

:::::::

Arrived home and decided to try another bowl with this 11" hoop....

....laid pieces of silk/organza onto the soluble fabric....

.....stitched, trying to cover all the fabric this time....

.....rinsed in warm water and placed over a bowl to dry....

.....fingers crossed this bowl is an improvement on the last!!!

I did use more fabric/stitching and didn't rinse for too long so the 'glue' should  help with the shape.

Watch this space to see the result.

A good day, despite the cold, wet, windy weather!!!!

Hope you all enjoy the rest of this weekend....

Result from yesterday's experiment....

1st May 2015

Happy new month to you all, this year is flying by!

Had a couple of hours gardening in the park this morning.....

Karen and Gary planting up the new bed....

.....poppies....

....lots of new colour....

:::::

A beach walk with Jack followed, the tide was coming in and I loved the  sound of the waves breaking on the shore.

::::::

The bowl....

.....I know, it doesn't look like a bowl in this photo, but it is a small bowl shape and apart from the 2 big holes I am rather pleased with it!

I need to buy a larger hoop before I try again, think the next one will be in shades of blue.

Also finished another card.....

....I do love these colours!
