Azalea and Rhodadendron in The Isabella Plantation within Richmond Park

25th April 2019

I went with a couple of friends to the Isabella Plantation within Richmond Park this morning and it was totally amazing........

.....beautiful, vibrant colours everywhere.....

.....carpets of bluebells....

.....ferns unfurling....

....carpet of petals...

....tall grasses swaying in the breeze....

.....quite a few Mandarin ducks....

.....streams and ponds...

...interesting trees...

.....unusual stepping stones....

.....this is a 'Handkerchief Tree' so very beautiful with very delicate flowers where the petals resemble very white delicate leaves....

....just two petals with a dark seed head in the middle....

....under the tree it looked as though paper tissues had been dropped!

Apparently these trees are quite rare in this country according to the gardener who was working nearby.

A wonderful way to start the day, must definitely go back in a couple of weeks to see more bushes in flower.
