A Brilliant Printing Play Day....

10th August 2017

Today I was meeting with my very creative friend Jo for a play day, we had intended dyeing fabrics but Jo's washing machine was leaking and she was unable to prepare her fabrics!

Not to be deterred we decided to print.....

 ....ready to go....

.....I made this Thermo block using a geranium leaf....

.....this using grass seed head...

...sponged with acrylic paint....

.....over printed with green / gold on a beige, cotton, slightly ridged fabric...

...we thought this looked a little like bluebells...

....geranium leaf...

....printed on the same fabric but looks more like a tree as the leaf edge is unclear, I may stitch around the shape....

....the same block printed on a hand made hemp fabric that I bought in Vietnam, love the texture of print on this fabric...

...same fabric using green...

....over printed with a metallic acrylic...

....calico sponged(left) and brushed...

....printed with a wooden block..

....background was painted with a brush then printed, think I might extend the tree using free machining....

....borrowed Jo's lovely blocks, maybe hand stitch these...

.....a spooky print, looks like a crow in the tree!!

The 'moon' was made using a freezer paper resist...

....think these are my favourite, Hosta leaf, sponged with gold, green and burgundy acrylics on muslin...

...Acer leaf printed on hand dyed muslin...

.....Fennel....

....Sage leaves, love these results....

....not quite sure what I am going to do with my days play but I can recommend creative playing with a friend, lots of chat and 'what will happen if?' and the most delicious homemade soup!

The weather forecast is very wet for tomorrow so I might just do some machining......

......thank you for visiting, more tomorrow!
