I have been enjoying some creative time in my loft space.....

......used one of my Dorset Buttons on canvas....

...don't know where the shadow came from!

I had forgotten how much I enjoy free machining....

....then added some buttons and french knots....

...really enjoyed making these!

Think I might try a seascape tomorrow.....

Be Creative prompts and Regents Park Theatre

4th September 2014

I think I have mentioned before that I have joined the online group 'Be Creative' organised by Textile Artist Myfanwy Hart. This is a brilliant group with lots of ideas and support for all members.

During September Myfanwy is posting prompts each day and today I have spent a pleasant couple of hours catching up....

Prompt 1, print with beverage (shortened version)

Red wine...

...coffee...

Prompt 2, Poem S

....my effort, printed background using leaves from my garden....

....prints using yellow, red and green acrylic paint...

.... practised my calligraphy...

...I was out of my comfort zone doing this prompt!

Prompt 3 was a picture of 2 apples....

....I decided to cut apples in two different ways and print...

...haven't done this since I was teaching Reception Class many years ago!!

I cut out apple shapes then cut strips from the paper that was left .....

.....made a collage with cut outs.

Prompt 4 was to find a piece of fabric and cut 3, 4" x 2" pieces in similar shades and one contrasting....

...chose my indigo dyed and space dyed muslin in orange..

....we haven't been told what to do with these fabrics yet.....

...RD and Jack enjoying the water....

Poppies, St Katherine's Dock and the V&A......

2nd September 2014

Yesterday was brilliant despite the rain!

Went by tube from Richmond to Tower Hill....

...this was just outside the tube station....

....walked to see the  Poppy Installation at The Tower of London.....

.....STUNNING!

The Shard in the background shrouded in low cloud....

....I took these photos as I walked round....

...so moving to know every poppy represents a life...

...so glad I bought one of these poppies.

Next St Katherine's Dock....

...so many boats old and new...

....luxury flats....

......loved this very old building

..the Rowbarge was beautiful in red and gold, sorry the photo doesn't do it justice!

This art work, enamelled panels, on one wall in the dock area was brilliant, gave me lots of ideas for decorating pages in my journal....

...loved this one.

Back on the tube to South Kensington and the V&A....

.....delicious lunch in this amazing room.
The V&A was the first museum to have restaurant facilities and the decoration reflected the art of that era, well worth a visit!

Back to the museum and the Wedding Dress Exhibition...

...no photos allowed and there were no postcards to buy.
The dresses were from 1700-2014 and the embroidery on the dresses and hand made lace veils were so beautiful.

Another brilliant day, never mind the weather!

Tonight we are meeting up with Cate and Adriano to see 'To Kill A Mocking Bird' at the open air theatre in Regent's Park, a birthday gift from them, and another new experience for me!!

Quite excited......
