A Trip to the RA and V&A....

25th July 2015

Arrived in Richmond on Wednesday, had a family meal in the evening, Thursday visited two BRILLIANT exhibitions after sauntering down Burlington Arcade.....

...fabulous paper hangings....

......

....this beautiful floor has replaced a London Scene carpet....

.....short walk to the RA...

.... huge metal structure in the courtyard outside....

......looking up...

.....the staircase leading up to the exhibition-coloured tape!!

Over 1000 exhibits, I only took photos of my 'favourites'....

....this was huge, waste metal cans stitched, this photo does not di it justice!!

Think this might look good in textiles....

....roughly 18' x 6'....

.....I liked the work with 'lines'....

.....metal, not for sitting on but loved the shape!

Liked this idea of overlapping circles, an organza piece maybe??

Lino cut, all the red dots represent a sale!

Metal shape painted gold with wire coat hanger hooks....

.....this was fascinating as it showed pages from an altered book....

......original page at the top, altered below with some words left visible....

.....another huge structure, quite menacing, black plastic over wire netting....

.....close up.

Tree bark...

....great texture....

.....I found this very moving....

.....a HUGE tapestry by Grayson Perry.....

.....this would look good in mixed media....

.....charcoal trees on pages from a dictionary...

.....very effective, birds painted on distressed boards.

Walked to the V&A, the walls outside were covered in these plastic sheets with flowers growing through, very effective....

.....so glad I saw this exhibition before it finishes in August.....

.... the items on display were FANTASTIC as were the exhibition settings and music....

....sadly, no photos allowed.

Yesterday had a little retail therapy, my sister found me some amazing bargains, then we met up with our daughters for a SPA afternoon, so relaxing.

Off to see my eldest son today and explore a farmers market.

Weather permitting we will be visiting Kew before I head back home, so watch this space!
