A Play in the Park....

7th May 2016

My day began at the park, planting grasses and bedding plants for our Play in the Park based on memories shared at our tea parties in March.....

.....beautiful grasses and bedding plants to be put into the new beds at the sides of the pallet stage...

....Margaret worked so hard clipping the grass in the willow dome....

.....Karen and Gary busy erecting the tent....

....finished beds...

.....free cakes but we were given lots of donations....

....visitors having picnics...

.....this actress was AMAZING...

....the play meandered through the park and finished under the Willow Dome....

....Avril couldn't resist having a dance to the music...

....we now have CCTV installed so hope to prevent the dome being vandalised again!!

Lots of colour in the park...

Looking up through the dome, I really love this structure...

....this couple live very near the park and visit almost daily and appreciate all the work put in by the volunteers.

A Walk in the grounds of Lytham Hall

4th May 2016

Yesterday was sunny with a cold wind so we decided to have a walk away from the sea front and chose Lytham Hall......

.......beautiful bluebells...

....blossom....

....a new fence erected to keep the bee hives secure....

.....even the old dead tree by the lake has beauty...

....fluffy topped bullrushes....

....buds ready to burst...

....so much work by volunteers to improve the grounds and new planting....

....so much growth from a tree stump...

.....the volunteers arrange fun days for parents and children, a trail of fairy doors..

.....loved the texture and colour of nature reclaiming this old stump...

....and last but not least the daisy!

Tyvek Beads....

3rd May 2016

Seems ages since I posted on my blog, I have been quite busy but not a lot to show!

I like Pinterest, so many talented people sharing ideas, and this is where I had the idea and tutorial for making Tyvek beads from the textile artist Carolyn Saxby.....

.....I had A4 sheets of Tyvek in my stash and painted both sides using acrylic paint...

.....when dry cut into various tapered strips....

....placed a narrow over a wider.....

....wound around a cane...

.....I tried 2 different ways, the narrower on top and inside....

....selected some metallic threads to wind around....

....and heated....

....love the result!

.....so enjoyed playing and watching the beads change shape, fabulous textures, think they will look good incorporated into a seascape!

>>>>>>>>

Also have been weaving with fabric strips...

...I tore strips from my indigo dyed muslin and wove it through a textured yarn....

...the beads were supposed to be used on this but the colours aren't right!!

Will just have to make some more!

Next I tore strips from my rusted fabrics, pinned to a board and proceeded to weave...

.... then ironed onto Bondaweb and wadding as the plan was to stitch using a twin needle, but that didn't work as some of the fabrics were very stiff and stitches were missing!

Undid the stitching which took ages and decided to use Kantha stitch using my silk threads all the way from Vietnam...

....think this is going to take a while, I also want to add texture and pattern to some of the squares so the result will eventually be a wall hanging, I hope!!

I have a busy week ahead as our park play takes place this Saturday so gardening and baking to be done, just hope the weather improves......
