Sorting, Tidying, Making...

18th January 2017

Very grey and damp here in Blackpool.

This last week I have been sorting, 3 bags for the charity shop and 2 for our Park Jumble.

Also tidying my loft space and finding many unfinished items!!

I had a piece of hand dyed cotton which I had hand/machined stitched and it was just the right size for a notebook cover.....

.....added a button and plaited cord.

>>>>>>>

Made a couple of cards....

.....finally made a pattern for a mouse to use up some of my old linens....

...hope it works!

Quite pleased I have only used items from my stash.

Hope the weather is fine for our yarn bombing this weekend.

Back in Blackpool

12th January 2017

Rather cold and grey here in Blackpool....

....I have made another bunny for a special baby boy this time using pure linen from my sister's stash....

....used variegated sock yarn for the sweater...

.....recycled denim pillow case for the baggy jeans, rather like the effect.

Think I might try to adapt the pattern and make a mouse next time!

>>>>>>>

Also been preparing for our park yarn bombing but we have postponed until next weekend as the forecast is very poor!

A Winter Walk in the Park....

6th January 2017

The last three days I have spent time with my daughter and Alba, precious times.....

....lots of walking in the park in winter sunshine.....

....this was lovely, not sure what it was....

...I like to take upward photos but do get strange looks from people passing by!

Winter trees have a special beauty.

Such a variety of wildlife....

....these are exercise machines and most days are well used...

.....doing a crossword in the sunshine...

.....this park is very well cared for, hardly any litter, many seats, great children's play area and as I do my 'laps' meet others doing the same, am on nodding terms with quite a few now!!!

Yesterday I did 14, 992 steps and am very proud!!

>>>>>>>

Alba enjoying her carrot and parsnip lunch.....

....she is such a joy!

Back to Blackpool tomorrow and preparing for the park annual yarn bomb....

....watch this space....

HAPPY NEW YEAR.....

2nd January 2017

I have been to the V&A to see this exhibition...

....unfortunately these were the only photos I was allowed to take!

The items on display were AMAZING, tiny stitches and lots of gold/silver threads to enhance the work, well worth seeing.

We also saw the 'Revolution' exhibition, also very interesting and the music on the headset evoked memories of my youth.......

.....New Years Day was very relaxed, sewing, knitting and watching films on I-player, 'A Song for Marion', the tears flowed and 'Pride' which made me laugh!!
The rain didn't stop all day.

Today the sun was shining so went for a walk from Richmond to Kew Bridge along the river....

....I thought these clouds looked really odd...

....this building is a studio in the garden and the artist was painting as I passed....

.....house boats....

...looking back towards Richmond, so many walkers, joggers and cyclists on the path....

.....the reason for the unusual black clouds-a fire, centre of photo...

....unusual seed heads...

....this little fella must have escaped but looked quite happy....

....this is a stream to the right of the path covered in weed...

...bit chilly for camping...

....a solitary rower..

...love these old sign posts...

.....this couple seemed to be having a picnic then started fishing...

....somebody being remembered...

....Syon House across the river, brought back happy memories of my son's wedding...

....part of Kew Gardens...

.....tide out leaving the house boats stranded, luxury flats behind them.....

....I walked over 11,000 steps  then caught the bus back to Richmond.

Tomorrow I am going to spend the day with my daughter and Alba, so looking forward to it!!!!
