My Photo in the Paper!

6th January 2015

Yesterday had my photo in the paper after the yarn bombing.....

....I was told to 'pose' in this way, great fun!

I have started a ripple crochet small blanket for me, to keep me warm in my loft space, using yarn left from previous projects....

....went for a little look round the garden....

...RD looks after the birds....

...these cyclamen have been wonderful....

...a sign of spring...

....and a long walk in a bracing wind and Jack ventured in the sea for a paddle!

Felt like making a card now all my deadlines have been met.....

.....lace on slub silk with hand stitching...

....a very pleasant and relaxing day.....

....will show the completed card tomorrow!

Yarn Bombing!!!!

4th January 2015

Greetings from a frosty sunny Blackpool.

We started decorating the park yesterday but had to stop due to heavy rain! This is what we managed yesterday.....

.....this was vandalised during the night, the burger disappeared and the cloth was thrown on the grass and trampled on so we have moved it inside the railings in the bowling area...

....I think this is my favourite even though it took many hours to produce, it is fixed to the bowler's shelter....

.....an online friend from my Be Creative group sent me these lovely chicks.....

.....this bench is a memorial to an original member of the Friends group, he would have loved this!

:::::

Today was frosty and sunny, just perfect for our task....

.....the new display complete with cups and teapot...

....love these made by Karen, just pompoms on garden sticks but so effective in the planter in the bowling area....

....spot the dream catcher....

...pompom bunting.

At 2pm the Graffiti Artists set up....

...they wound black plastic around the tennis court netting...

....and everyone had fun...

....completed, AMAZING!!

This whole project has been amazing, so many people helping, lots of laughs and making  new friends but the greatest part was the smiles it brought to people walking through the area, mission accomplished!!

Another funny highlight for me was when the photographer from the local paper asked me to pose beside the flower hut and lying on a bench, the first time I have been a model, WHAT A HOOT!!!

We ended the day taking Jack for a beach walk....

...am already thinking about next year!!!!

Looking Forward to 2015

1st January 2015

HAPPY NEW YEAR

These were my hopes and wishes for 2014-I don't do resolutions!!!

                                    health -good, apart from a touch of sciatica

                                    joyful family times- lots of these, so precious

                                    develop computer and embroidery skills -just a little!

                                    read 52 books!! read 58

                                    try 2 new recipes every month- didn't do this although I have tried some new recipes

                                    learn to follow a crochet pattern- I made a crochet ripple lap blanket from a pattern

                                    cycle-no

                                    make a monthly 'to do' list!! -only in my head!!

I had a good year and am pleased I achieved some of my 'hopes and wishes'.

This year I want to continue on my creative journey and perhaps have an adventure!!

I have signed up to 15 mins creativity every day in 2015!!

52 book challenge

I have three courses booked:-

a day on mixed media

2 day White Work Sampler course at the RSN at Hampton Court

 a week in Cornwall with Anne Griffiths, beach and books

 just a little excited!!

::::

I have the yarn bombing project this weekend, weather permitting....

and lots of unfinished work I want to stitch....

....my own dyed fabrics fused using the embellisher....

.....more dyed fabrics, quilted background and a variety of rectangles added, this was from a Be Creative prompt....

....more of my dyed fabrics and another Be Creative prompt...

....think I might use these for hand made book covers when I have added more stitching.

This has been woven on a very open weave hessian using mainly recycled sari silk strips, beach, sea and sky....

.....embellished fleece with stitches, threads and silk cocoons added, needs a lot more stitching, a wall hanging I think...

...lots to keep me occupied!

::::::

I made this card for the family at Christmas but was a little sad when I saw the cards as the white mother of pearl button eye had been crushed in the post!!

I must remember to use padding when I post anything like this!

:::::

I was thrilled to see a photo of my work in the Oxford Summer School brochure....

I hope you all have a healthy, happy and creative 2015 and I would love to hear from you......
