Experimenting....

I bought this book a while ago......

....it is beautifully presented....

....I have so many pieces of hand dyed fabric in different textures thought I would make up some colour/stitch samples-slow stitching is so relaxing...

...pinned and ready to stitch...

....fabrics are muslin, scrim, silk, cotton, linen , velvet and indigo dyed cotton lace....

...chose a variety of threads...

....the result, I really wanted to add orange thread but resisted the urge this time!

The shape on the left is a short piece of wool yarn which I couched.

Think I might choose red next......

....also want to try some layering, texturing and heating samples, very therapeutic to play!!

Card Making......

My birthday today and received lovely cards , gifts and flowers.....

.....then went to Lytham where there was a 1940's Festival ....

...Southport in the distance across the estuary....

...a couple in costume...

...interesting displays...

...Churchill....

....singing wartime songs...

....themed window displays...

 

....lovely to see so many people taking part...

....wonderful flower displays....

....dancing to live music.

A great atmosphere.

Been busy making 'keepsake' cards this week...

...marked out the aperture of my card on old linen....

....added a fabric paint background...

....sponged the sky and added various hand stitches for the grasses...

....completed card!

Also made an autumnal theme card...

....and finally have started a cot blanket in c2c crochet pattern from my last post using yarn left over from previous projects....

....this pattern would make a cosy throw in a variegated wool yarn and is so easy.

A Walk on the Beach....

Another sunny day with a very pleasant breeze. Went for a walk but Jack declined, did his usual trick of hiding under the table with teeth bared, so enjoyed a very relaxing 2 hour walk along the prom and beach.....

.....the tide was coming in....

.....jet ski's were out on the water....

.....this lady was packing up very quickly before the tide reached her....

.....so many shades of blue....

....jelly fish washed up, such a lovely frill around the edge...

....lovely to see families enjoying the beach building sandcastles and flying kites, it brought back happy memories....

....wispy  clouds...

...this labrador was having a wonderful time retrieving his ball from the sea...

....children swimming.

This is a photo of a climbing plant in my back garden, I don't know what it is but I love the delicate flowers.....

.....I also sat in the garden happily stitching.....

.....a perfect day!

Weaving, Embellishing and Stitching....

Lovely day today in Blackpool, spent a couple of hours gardening in the park then cut the grass and dead headed at home! Really is a green gym, exercise and fresh air.

A while ago I made a weaving using strips of indigo dyed muslin/textured yarn from my stash...

....removed from the frame....

.....embellished, front...

....back....

....and stitched using orange perla thread.

Not sure what I will do with it but I enjoyed the process and the fabric it produced. Might even add more stitches.....
